The gospel, a message of good news
Brought to us by a loving God, and His son Jesus Christ
He came down to a broken world
And with affection, drew us to His presence
Jesus died on the cross that we may be seen as righteous in the eyes of God
He fills us with His Holy Spirit, that we may bear good fruit for His kingdom

So now I call myself a Christian, a follower of Jesus Christ
A deeply flawed being, in the light of the one that is flawless
Now what can I do in the flash of lightning called my life?
Nothing, alone I can do nothing
For I have not experienced a salvation that is earned by works
Because my ransom was paid by the blood of Jesus Christ
And in His grace and mercy, I am saved
Despite my sin, bad attitude, and my many imperfections

I can only pray in the name of Jesus Christ
That through His blood, I'd be seen as worthy
To bear fruit for the kingdom of God
That even now in this incomplete life
I may bask in forgiveness and joy of the holy one
And it's because of the love of the Creator that I write these songs
In prayer that they too will bear good fruit for the kingdom of God

I long to be used by God to share His love from me to you
The message, the gospel, is not just for me
The death of Jesus is an undeserved gift
That is free to anyone who simply accept it
The life of a Christian is difficult and weary
So God fills us up with His supernatural peace and love
I pray that God's will be done here on Earth, as it is in Heaven

That we'd live in thankfulness for our daily bread
That He would forgive us, and enable us to forgive
